a. Searching on Internet PubMed

When articles are available online, they are often in one of two formats:

  • PDF(Adobe): a printable format convenient for reading,
  • HTML: a format with separately embedded script, objects, and images that can be easily used to incorporate graphs and illustrations into a PowerPoint presentation.

Some journals even provide images on pre-prepared slides, complete with text and references for direct use in a presentation.

  • PubMed often provides bibliographical references of articles that have been retrieved, and displays a hypertext link to corresponding articles, and if needed, to the full text if indexed in PubMed’s permanent records or if made available online by the original journal. Following up with such references can lead to retrieving pertinent articles that have not been listed on an initial query.
