2.3 The eight steps

1. What is the objective of the study?

The risk of developing a disease, its progression, and its prognosis.

Risk and prognosis are often located on the same continuum during the course of the disease.

A risk factor is associated with contracting the disease, a "prognosis" factor is related to the progression of the disease once it has been contracted.

Prognosis is vital information, because it leads to the notion of basic risk that quantitatively measures the impact of an intervention and evaluates its effectiveness.
