3.9.2 Waste management special instructions when Ebola is suspected

One contact with waste contaminated with the Ebola virus can spread the illness.

Be sure to follow the security guidelines and wear your PPE when eliminating waste.

It is very important that the personnel processing waste be well acquainted with the safety procedures and that they understand exposition risks.

3.9.2.1 Biohazard materials which needs to be destroyed
  • Biological fluids from suspected cases (blood, stools, urine, vomit)

  • Single use items (needles, syringes, gauze, wound dressings, single-use gloves and clothing used with the patient)

  • Small laboratory equipment

  • Biological samples
