The following signs might raise the suspicion of a potential VHF:
Lack of improvement after proper treatment against the most common illnesses.
With the addition of other symptoms such as hemorrhage or cardiovascular shock.
If the patient was in contact with other individuals with fever and hemorrhage or who passed away with such symptoms in the 2 to 21 days prior to the onset of symptoms.
If the patient attended a funeral in the 2 to 21 days before the onset of symptoms.
If the patient was in contact with infected animals (monkeys, bats), for example, by eating bush meat.
