DNA makes up the genome of living organisms.

Genome: The whole DNA content of a cell. In a given organism, all the different cell types contain the same genome.

Genomics: The science of the genome.

The human genome contains different types of sequences:

  • Sequences encoding RNA or proteins (genes)

  • Non coding sequences (introns, sequences regulating gene expression, sequences with undetermined functions)
