2.1 Sample collection procedure

Every sample is potentially highly infectious – handle as such!

When collecting and handling samples of VHF/Ebola suspected patients, wearing protective clothing (or personal protective equipment - PPE) is compulsory to prevent getting infected by the virus.

Confirming an VHF/Ebola suspected case requires the help of very specialized reference laboratories. Collect the sample with the least amount of biohazard risk possible for the health care personnel and send the sample to the laboratory in a secure manner.

Samples should be collected from each of the suspected cases.
