3.2 Ebola specific risks

Biohazard:

  • Any biological fluid from a contaminated person, dead or alive

    • Blood

    • Feces

    • Urine

    • Saliva

    • Vomit

  • Contaminated equipment or instruments

  • Clothing, sheets in contact with contaminated patients

Ebola and health care personnel:

  • The current outbreak has clearly demonstrated the hemorrhagic viral fever’s elevated risk of transmission among laboratory and health care personnel.

  • Personnel get infected by contact with:

    • Contaminated equipment

    • Accidental needle stick

    • Accidental exposure to an infectious body fluid
