DNA and genomes

Different primers are synthesized by primase. They allow DNA Polymerase to bind to the part of the parental strand that cannot be replicated from the initial primer.

DNA polymerase can then replicate a fragment of a new strand until it is blocked on the previous primer. These are lagging strands created from « discontinuous » replication.
